CRYING

She’s found her voice, Father.

I don’t mean her cry

Nor her attempts at communication:

Now she has learnt to squeal,

To scream,

To make all manner of noises—

loud noises,

ear-piercing noises,

Just because she can!

Do I do that to you, Father?

Do I demand your attention

With inappropriate noise,

loud demands,

insistent cries?

Because I know,

In my heart, that it is not necessary;

That you know I am here,

You know my need,

You hear my cry,

Even before I utter it.

Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help! (Psalm 130: 2, GNT)
